Land Conservancy Photo Contest Celebrates Three Years of Community Participation
As a board member of the Land Conservancy of Adams County, I have enjoyed watching our photo contest grow into a fun and engaging way for community members to share the places they love most in Adams County.
Since the contest began in the summer of 2023, we have completed 12 rounds and received 143 photo submissions from photographers of all ages and skill levels. Through their lenses, participants have captured the beauty of Adams County’s farms, forests, waterways, trails, wildlife, and historic landscapes.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of the contest is that the community helps select the winners. After submissions are received, photos are posted on the Land Conservancy’s Facebook and Instagram pages, where followers can vote for their favorites. This process allows the public to engage with the contest while celebrating the special places that make Adams County unique.
Over the past three years, the contest has highlighted a wide variety of local scenery and has encouraged participants to explore both familiar destinations and hidden gems throughout the county. All winning photographs and top selections can be viewed on the Land Conservancy’s website.
We are excited to continue the tradition in 2026. The next round of the photo contest will be the summer 2026 contest, with a call for submissions expected in August. The theme will be “Favorite Bridge in Adams County,” inviting photographers to showcase the county’s iconic covered bridges and other cherished crossings.
The fall 2026 contest is expected to open in October and will feature the theme “Favorite Walk/Hike in Adams County.” Participants will be encouraged to share photographs from their favorite trails, parks, preserves, and scenic routes.
The photo contest is free to enter and provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the natural beauty, history, and character of Adams County. Whether you enjoy photography, exploring the outdoors, or simply voting for your favorite images, we hope you will join us for the upcoming contests.
