Celebrating Land Conservation

On a picture-perfect day, September 7th, the Land Conservancy of Adams County (LCAC) held its 21st annual Summer Picnic hosted by Boyer Nurseries and Orchards. One hundred and forty members and supporters enjoyed the beautiful view and shared a meal and fellowship, while many children enjoyed the bounce house.  It was a wonderful day to celebrate the important conservation work led by LCAC, we even had a cake in the shape of Adams County in honor of LCAC’s 30th birthday!

Boyer Nurseries was selected as the host location for the picnic following a successful conservation project in 2024 that brought their total preserved acreage to over 1,000 acres.  They have the distinction of being the only Land Conservancy of Adams County conservation benefactor to preserve over 1,000 acres.

In total, the Land Conservancy has preserved 13,819 acres in Adams County since its inception in 1995. The organization is lead by a board of directors with two incredible team members who support the mission of preserving the rural lands and character of Adams County.

And 2025 LCAC events are not done yet! Our upcoming fundraiser, the 27th annual Road Rally, is LCAC’s largest fundraiser of the year. Scheduled for Saturday, October 18 this year’s rally theme is “Animals of Adams County.” The route will take rally-goers through 10 townships and boroughs in Adams County to visit four locations hosting animals with interesting stories right here in our own backyard!

The route instructions will include information on notable sights along the way as well as many preserved properties.  It wraps up with a finish line party where attendees enjoy dinner (included in the registration fee). There is still time to register your rally team! Visit our website at PreserveAdams.org/Road-Rally for more information. Corporate sponsorships are available as well.

If events aren’t your thing but you still want to support LCAC, fear not! The Land Conservancy participates in the annual Giving Spree scheduled for Thursday, November 6. The Adams County Community Foundation’s Giving Spree is a dedicated day of giving for 100+ nonprofit organizations from Adams County. You can find more information on the Adams County Community Foundation website at AdamsCountyCF.com.  Be sure to include LCAC’s giving #67 on your donation form!
